Talk to those relatives and Identify those Photographs!

Christmas is three days away and that means for many of us we will be getting together with family to celebrate the holiday. Christmas is also a wonderful time to talk to those older family members who know the family stories not to mention who can identify the many faces in our older pictures. If you have grandparents especially don’t miss another holiday to get that crucial information. Here are two sites with lists of questions to ask those family members: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865595932/Genealogy-150-questions-to-ask-family-members-about-their-lives.html?pg=all and http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohlths/interview2.htm. If you are sitting around telling family stories, take notes or even better record those stories. My dad used to set up a video camera to record our Christmas celebrations, thanks to his foresight I have video of my beloved granddaddy Kimberly, if only I had known to ask him all the questions I’m telling you ask. Sadly my grandparents passed away before I gained an interest in genealogy and I know there are things I will never know because I didn’t know to ask.
